The 25th of October, 2009 was a historical moment for a Polish expedition TX5SPA and TH5SPM. The Polish team returned home safe and sound.
 And here is how it all started…During a last year’s Convention of the SPDX Club, Wojtek SP9PT offered me a joint expedition to Nauru.  I myself was rather thinking of organizing a journey to French Polynesia, namely to the archipelago of Austral and Marquesas Islands. After some discussion and analysis of the two possibilities, we chose my option as it seemed more demanding, difficult and attractive at the same time. Another argument for was the fact that after my journey to Ducie Island (VP6DX) I had a friend named Michel (FO5QB) who is a great man and an excellent organizer. He immediately decided to join us in our undertaking and without any delay started to take care of any formalities on the other side of the globe.
 By then we had a team of five people: Michel (FO5QB), Janusz (SP3CYY), Wojtek (SP9PT), Jozek (SWL), and me, Leszek (SP3DOI).

On December 24, 2003, the TO4E team, Europa 2003 returned to Metropolitan France after a  difficult dxpedition , where they had to suffer a lot  of serious troubles ; among them were the random supply of electric current, and lacks it material and finally  they had to remain several more days on the island, because of a cyclone, in the area. However   30 000 QSO’s were logged by a motivated and welded team.

In January 2009, the US Fish and Wildlife Service announced radio operation would be allowed in October 2009. The USFWS announced the DXpedition operators would be W6OSP, N7CQQ, N6HC, N4XP, K9CT, I8NHJ, WB4JTT, DJ9ZB, W8GEX, N4PN, AA4NN, KH7U, 9V1YC, ND2T, K6TD, WA7NB, W6KK and N1DG. The DXpedition leaders would be N4XP and WB4JTT. Planning continued for 8 months. N4XP & WB4JTT established a management team for five specific areas. N1DG - IT, W6OSP - finance, KH7U and WB4JTT - transportation and logistics and W8GEX - radios/amps/antennas. Managers selected other team members to assist his duties. For six months SKYPE™ calls and emails were used for all details.Midway Atoll, a US possession in the mid Pacific, is a National Wildlife Refuge administered by the US Fish & Wildlife Service (USFWS). Amateur radio operations were plentiful while the US military occupied Midway from before World War II until the early 1990’s. However, after 1993 when the island was transferred to the US Department of the Interior, requests by amateurs to activate the Atoll were not approved.
